Remembering Our Beloved Tom Dunnington

October 26, 1941-March 24, 2025

At his core, Tom was a performer, always entertaining those around him. His humor and
wit charmed everyone he met. A natural comedian, he loved nothing more than
entertaining his children and grandchildren with his quirky sense of humor and his
animated storytelling. When Jennifer developed an interest in ballet, Tom joined her,
performing the role of Drosselmeyer in The Nutcracker; a role he would reprise for 32
years in various productions. He brought Ben Franklin to life every July 4th when
reading the Declaration of Independence on the steps of Dover’s City Hall and played
various roles with the Garrison Players, the beloved theatre group where, for over 50
years, Tom and Barbara dedicated endless hours building sets, ushering, rehearsing,
singing, performing, serving on the board, and restoring the historic Hiram R Roberts
Grange into the Garrison Players Arts Center. Tom even tried his hand at directing
when he staged a wonderful production of “Our Town” in 2008. In recognition of their commitment to the group and their tireless work on the Arts Center, Garrison Players dedicated the main theatre in Tom and Barbara’s name.
